Brooklyn playwright pens transgender lead for CW drama

Who in the world is Kyle Jarrow? The Brooklyn-based playwright may be tomorrow’s hottest TV writer. According to Deadline Hollywood, Jarrow is developing a dramatic series about a transgender teen and his family.

The series, titled “ZE,” is set in Texas where the young girl announces to her family that will be living as a boy. How the family deals with this bombshell is the source of much dramatic conflict.

Jarrow won an Obie Award at age 24 for his Off-Broadway hit “A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant.”

The executive producer on “ZE” is Michael London, who worked on the Academy Award-winning film “Milk. CBS-TV Studios is producing.
