Woman killed in hit-and-run

A lovers’ quarrel in the middle of a Bronx thoroughfare ended in tragedy Sunday when a woman was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver — as her horrified girlfriend looked on.

A large black sedan plowed into Dulce Maria Valencia, 25, on the Bruckner Boulevard service road at Evergreen Avenue at about 5 a.m. as she and girlfriend Olivia Chavez, 38, argued, witnesses said.

The driver took off.

“Olivia saw it happen. Dulce was killed right in front of her,” said Valencia’s sister, Marnely, 28. “[Olivia] was standing eight feet from her when the car came and . . . just fainted.”

The couple, who ran a flower stand together in Kingsbridge and had dated for more than two years, had been at a party at the nearby home of Dulce’s two older sisters minutes earlier when they took their spat outside.

“Oh, no! Not her! Dulce is the sweetest woman,” said a neighbor, Robert Rodriguez.
