Sea monster or Cookie Monster?

“Sesame Street” fans expect to see the Cookie Monster on their television, not under the sea. But that’s just where an underwater photographer found him, snapping a shot of a sea creature that looks just like the character.

Having what looks just like the beloved Muppet’s eyes and mouth, the look-a-like is actually a stove pipe sponge found in the Dutch Caribbean. Appearances are where the similarities end, though, as the sponge would much rather munch on plankton than cookies.

This isn’t the first time nature has showed its appreciation for the character. In October 2012 the Messenger probe photographed a set of craters that looked just like the cookie fiend on Mercury.
