Cops search for wheelchair-bound bandit

He can’t walk, but he sure gets around.

Police are hunting for a wheelchair-using bandit who has been rolling around Midtown stealing people’s bags at high-end restaurants and hotels, authorities said.

The man, whom police believe is actually disabled, first struck at the New York Marriott Marquis hotel on Broadway at 46th Street at around 8 p.m. on Aug. 19, when he wheeled into in the lobby and loitered, pretending to be a guest, cops said.

He made his way over to a woman checking in at the front desk, snatched her bag without her noticing, and rolled out the door, making off with $300 in cash and a $500 gift card, police say.

The crook was at it again on Aug. 30 at the upscale Nobu 57 restaurant on West 57th Street at around 11 p.m., when he rolled over to a female diner and stole her leather Coach satchel.

The thief then used the woman’s American Express card to buy food at a nearby pizza joint.

The man was caught on surveillance video wheeling down the street after committing both crimes, police said.
