Kid hit by out-of-control SUV dies

A schoolboy who narrowly avoided being killed by an out-of-control SUV in Queens last week died after suffering a severe asthma attack, law-enforcement sources said.

Michael Gomez, 13, was one of five kids injured on Thursday Sept. 12 when an SUV jumped a curb at Grand Avenue and 71st Street in Maspeth after driver Francis Aung Lu, 40, mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes, cops said.

Nearly a dozen good Samaritans lifted the vehicle off the kids. Two girls were sent to the hospital in critical condition.

Michael suffered only minor injuries and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital before being released that same day.

But on Sunday, he suffered an asthma attack and was rushed back to Elmhurst Hospital, where he later died, sources said.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, but sources said they don’t believe he died from injuries sustained in the accident.
