$600G INSURANCE SCAM EARNS B’KLYN DENTIST JAIL TIME

A crooked Brooklyn dentist is going to be feeling the pain of prison after he pleaded guilty to a brazen $600,000 insurance fraud scam he carried out while treating dozens of Port Authority cops.

Barry Cohan, 51, agreed to serve up to 7 ½ years behind bars for submitting bogus claims to the PA and MetLife between 2004 and 2006 that sought payment for services he didn’t perform on the officers.

In some cases, the dentist waived the 20 percent co-payment for the cops.

Cohan also performed cosmetic surgeries that were not covered under the insurance plan and then billed for different qualifying procedures.

Dozens of PA cops were questioned during the federal fraud investigation, but none of the officers were charged in the case, according to law enforcement sources.

Cohan also pleaded guilty to stealing the identity of another dentist by using his name on fraudulent claims while he was on vacation. The identity theft charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of two years.
