CHINA’S FOREIGN MINISTER CONCERNED ABOUT BINGHAMTON KILLINGS

China’s foreign minister today spoke with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton about the massacre of 13 people in upstate Binghamton where three people from China were among the dead.

Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told Clinton during a phone call that, “This was a very serious incident and the Chinese government is deeply concerned about it,” said Yang, according to the Xinhua official news agency.

“We grieve over the death of the Chinese nationals and other victims, and our condolences go to the injured people as well as the victims’ families.”

Yang asked U.S. authorities to expedite visas for victims’ families and offer medical treatment to the injured Chinese.

His call came as authorities released the names of all 13 victims of gunman Jiverly Wong, an ethnic Chinese who was born in Vietnam.

Wong committed suicide as police arrived at the scene of the massacre in the American Civic Association.
