Edward F. Cox’s correct assessment of a New York Republican resurgence fails to mention the tremendous electoral successes of his predecessor as state chairman, Nassau County GOP Chairman Joseph N. Mondello (“The Empire State Republican Surge,” PostOpinion, Feb. 11).
Mondello oversaw stunning electoral victories in Nassau County over the past 12 months, reversing major Democratic trends. Mondello also grabbed a special election victory, sending Assemblyman-elect Michael Montesano to Albany with over 70% of the vote. Cox should not overlook these impressive results, especially as he rebuilds the NY GOP on the local level.
