Scandal gives bill new life

A Brooklyn pol has a new pitch for a bill that would strap electronic GPS ankle bracelets on domestic-violence suspects.

Democratic Assemblyman Felix Ortiz, who introduced the bill in 2007, insisted that yesterday’s news conference to revive interest in it was scheduled weeks ago — and was unrelated to domestic-violence charges against a top aide to Gov. Paterson.

Still, Ortiz said, the scandal that KO’d Paterson’s re-election bid gives “us a better shot to get the bill [passed].”

Erika’s Law would honor Erika Delia, 27, killed by an ex-boyfriend in 2007.
