Checking in with Devils and Rangers in Vancouver

ZACH PARISE

USA

Parise scored four goals, none bigger than the one he had with 25 seconds left in the third period yesterday against Canada. He beat Roberto Luongo to tie the match 2-2, forcing overtime. He also had both goals in a 2-0 quarterfinal win over Switzerland and another in the semifinal victory against Finland. He finished with eight points in the tournament.

MARIAN GABORIK

Slovakia

The new Ranger overcame an injury to have a strong tournament for fourth-place Slovakia. He had four goals and an assist before the Slovaks coughed up a two-goal lead in the third period of the bronze medal game — in part because of his Blueshirts teammate Olli Jokinen’s pair of late goals for Finland in that match.

PATRIK ELIAS

Czech Republic

Elias got off to a quick start and wound up with a pair of goals and assists for the Czechs, although it wasn’t enough to get them to the medal round.
