Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blu menthal said in a state ment yesterday that he was looking into whether Westport Na tional Bank and a Con necticut pension consul tant, PSCC Services and its owner Robert Silver man, aided and abetted Bernard Madoff in his $65 billion Ponzi scheme.

AT&T plan

AT&T is looking to plough $1 billion into up grading its business net work, services and prod ucts for large companies worldwide as well as for small US firms as net work traffic in global economies migrate from voice to video and data.

The Dow Jones indus trial average continued to march toward 11,000, coming within 13 points before closing down 3.56 points to 10,969.99. S&P 500 index added 2.00 points to close at 1,189.44. The Nasdaq composite index rose 7.28 points to finish at 2,436.81.

Correction

A story in yesterday’s paper about Loehmann’s clothing discounter in correctly said the re tailer missed a debt pay ment. The retailer has in fact met its debt-pay ment obligations.
