Slaying eases terror worry: poll

Most Americans believe the killing of Osama bin Laden will make the United States safer, but worry his terrorist followers will try to launch a quick retaliatory attack, a new poll shows.

The Gallup survey found that 54 percent of respondents believe bin Laden’s death will make the US safer from terrorism — nearly double the 28 percent who think the elimination of the al Qaeda chief will make America less safe.

And 73 percent said they were more confident the United States can win the war on terrorism.
