New rap looms in Soho slay

The stoner son of creepy composer Joseph Brooks will be charged with murder in the Soho House death of his ex-girlfriend, swimsuit designer Sylvie Cachay, sources said yesterday.

Investigators are waiting for the final results of a report from the city medical examiner to determine her cause of death: either strangulation or drowning or a combination of both, the sources said.

Nick Brooks, 26, had already been charged with attempted murder in the case after the bruised body of Cachay, 33, was found in a bathtub at the exclusive Soho House hotel in the Meatpacking District.

Brooks is the son of Joseph Brooks, the Oscar-winning composer and director who was indicted earlier this year on 82 counts of sexually abusing starlets.

Nick Brooks pleaded not guilty at his arraignment hearing Saturday night on the attempted-murder rap.
