Islanders never considered trading all picks to Jackets

The biggest news the Islanders made at the NHL draft came from a report they were willing to trade all seven of their picks to the Blue Jackets for the No. 2 overall selection.

Recently, a NHL source vehemently denied that report, saying it was “laughably incorrect.”

The deal, first reported by the Columbus Dispatch, would have given the Blue Jackets picks Nos. 4, 34, 65, 103, 125, 155 and 185 for just the No. 2, with which Columbus took top-rated defenseman Ryan Murray.

The Islanders seven defensemen, starting with Griffin Reinhart at No. 4.
