Believe it: Jets’ Tebow trademarks ‘Tebowing’

Move over, “Linsanity” and “That’s a clown question, bro.”

Tim Tebow’s application to trademark Tebowing — the Jets backup quarterback’s signature kneeldown — was the latest sports phenomenon to be accepted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Tebow did so through patent and trademark specialist Anthony Keats, a California attorney who did not immediately return a call from The Post. The application was filed by Tebow’s marketing arm, XV Enterprises Limited, though Tebow said it isn’t about marketing or money but controlling the message.

“I knew it was something that was cool for me in the past, but it’s not something I do as Tebowing,” he said. “It’s something I do that’s prayer for me and it got hyped as Tebowing. I think one, more to control how it’s used as well. Make sure it’s used in the right way.’’

Tebow was a big-time star while winning a national title and Heisman Trophy at Florida. But Tebowing became a national craze last season, mimicking the habit Tebow, an evangelical Christian, had of taking a knee with his fist on his forehead after scoring a touchdown.

But Tebowing merchandise also started flooding the market without flooding his coffers. Last December, the owners of Tebowing.com and TebowingGear.com filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Within weeks, Tebow’s legal representatives sent letters of protest, and both companies’ applications have since been declared dead. Now his own application has gone through, and though it won’t keep people from Tebowing, it will keep others from profiting from it. Tebow said any profit would go to his foundation.

* Joe McKnight, Clyde Gates (shoulder) and Nick Mangold (ankle) are listed as questionable. Coach Rex Ryan said McKnight is a gametime decision, and said he is confident Mangold will play.

“He’s questionable,” Ryan said. “But he’s been questionable the last two weeks and he’s played as well.’’

Kenrick Ellis (knee), Eric Smith (knee), Bilal Powell (shoulder), Sione Po’uha (low back) are doubtful and all but Po’uha missed practice. S
tephen Hill, Jeremy Kerley, Dustin Keller, LaRon Landry, Brandon Moore, Calvin Pace, Mark Sanchez,
Matt Slauson and Bryan Thomas are probable.

* Ryan picked Tebow’s brain and had him running the scout team to help prepare for the tendencies of Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who was Denver’s coach last year. Did it do any good?

“I guess we’ll find out,’’ Ryan said.
