Man fatally struck while walking on FDR Drive; 2nd time this month person is hit crossing busy roadway on foot

A man was killed in a car crash today as he walked in the center lane of the FDR Drive near East 63rd Street, police said.

Jason Morales, 23, was hit by a 1993 Honda sedan at about 1:10 a.m. He died at Metropolitan Hospital.

The driver stayed at the scene and is not suspected of any crime.

Today’s deadly accident is the third time since August that people have been struck by cars while trying to cross the busy thoroughfare on foot.

On Feb. 3, an intoxicated man was struck while trying to run across the roadway at East 25th Street; Aug. 25, a 36-year-old was seriously injured after being struck while trying to cross at the same intersection..

Also on the Upper East Side this morning, a pedestrian was struck by a tractor-trailer around 3 a.m. on 1st Avenue near 86th Street, cops said.

The 40-year-old man suffered head trauma, and is being treated at Cornell Hospital. He is expected to survive, cops said.

No criminality is suspected in the accident.
