‘Homeland’ kills it: All-time high ratings for finale

“Homeland” went out with a bang on Sunday, drawing 2.4 million viewers to its third season finale at 9 p.m., a new record for the Showtime drama.

The episode – which featured the shocking death of Brody (Damian Lewis) – beat the previous high of 2.36 million viewers for the 11th episode of Season Two. “Homeland” also had its most watched night ever, averaging 2.9 million viewers with its replay (compared to 2.7 million for the Season Two finale night).

The finale was also up 27 percent from the Season Three premiere (1.88 million) and 12 percent from that premiere night (2.6 million). Season to date, the Claire Danes drama is drawing 7 million weekly viewers, up 18 percent from its second season.

“Homeland” has already been renewed for a fourth season to air in 2014.
