Two women have been arrested in connection to the fatal stabbing of a Connecticut man in the Bronx, who cops say was trying to intervene during a verbal argument between the two.

According to police, Nereline Santana, of the Bronx was charged with second degree murder, while Carmen Puerto-Cruz, of Longview Texas, was charged with second degree assault. Police say both women were charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Ronis Garcia, 28, was discovered lying on the ground inside of 855 Bryant Avenue with a stab wound to the chest, according to authorities. He was transported to Lincoln Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say Garcia saw the two women engaging in a verbal argument, when he tried to intervene and separate the two irate women. According to police, his attempt to intervene cost him his life.

“It looks like he was trying to be a good Samaritan, and this is what he got for trying to help,” cops said of the fatal stabbing.

The women’s relationship to Garcia is still unknown, according to police.
