A police officer was struck and injured in Queens early this morning by a runaway driver, according to cops.
Cops say the officer was struck by a white Pontiac with New Jersey license plates at the corner of Springfield and 115th Streets. The officer reportedly stopped the vehicle for unknown reasons, and the driver then hit the cop while fleeing the scene, police said.
The officer sustained only minor injuries, and was treated at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing, police say.
