Giants blitz: ‘This is no fun for anybody’

HERO: Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, who carved up the Giants defense from start to finish leading San Diego to a 24-0 halftime lead with two TD passes. Rivers set the tone by playing an almost-perfect first half, completing 16-of-21 for 177 yards, 3 TDs and a 140.3 rating. He badly outplayed Giants quarterback Eli Manning, finished the game 21-of-28 for 249 yards, 3 TDs, no INTs and a 137.4 rating

UNSUNG HERO: Chargers rookie receiver Keenan Allen, who beat the Giants for two TD receptions in the first half. Allen first torched Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas on a 43-yard TD and then he slipped behind Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara and safety Antrel Rolle on a 4-yard TD. Allen (3-59, 2 TDs) entered the game with three TDs and almost matched that number Sunday.

ZERO: Manning, who looked out of sync all day, underthrowing passes and throwing them behind receivers, threw another INT — in the first quarter to Chargers linebacker Donald Butler. Manning, who was 20-of-32 for 259 yards, 1 TD two INTs, now has thrown 20 picks this season.

NUMBER TO KNOW: 67. That was the Chargers success rate on third down (10-fo-15).

QUOTE: “We should all be disappointed. They [the players] are going to have to get back up off the floor like we all do. This is no fun for anybody.’’ — Giants coach Tom Coughlin
