ABC’s soap ‘Betrayal’ can’t seduce viewers

ABC’s new prime time soap “Betrayal” is failing to seduce enough viewers.

According to Nielsen, the drama declined in its second week to an audience of 4 million viewers Sunday at 10 p.m., down 23 percent from its series premiere. It also dropped 27 percent (to a 1.1) in the advertiser-coveted demo of 18-49 — moving it closer to the fate that befell its now-cancelled ABC stablemate “Lucky 7” last week (which pulled a 0.7 in adults 18-49).

Earlier in the night, some fans also abandoned “Revenge,” which fell 17 percent from its third-season premiere to 6.7 million viewers — while “Once Upon a Time” was more steady at 7.7 million viewers, slipping 9 percent week-to-week.

Elsewhere on Sunday night, CBS’ “The Good Wife” grew to 9.6 million viewers while “The Mentalist” dipped to 9 million viewers, off 6 percent from its previous episode.

Also on CBS, “The Amazing Race,” benefiting from NFL overrun, snared 11.1 million viewers, according to preliminary ratings.

Over on Fox, “The Simpsons,” “Bob Burgers,” “Family Guy” and “American Dad” were roughly flat with their season openers.

As usual, NBC won the night with “Sunday Night Football,” with 14.4 million viewers watching the San Francisco 49ers blow out the Houston Texans 49-3.
