Kate Upton and Snoop Dogg star in bizarre Hot Pocket ad

What do you get when you combine a classic rap song, a swimsuit model, has-been rappers and stoner humor? A very bad commercial.

Hot Pockets’ latest ad, titled “You Got What I Eat,” is a four-minute long parody — that the brand clearly hopes will go viral –of Biz Markie’s “Just a Friend,” starring Kate Upton, Snoop Dogg and Bow Wow.

The video’s incoherent plot focuses on a dream Upton has after snacking on one of the microwaveable pockets. The sequence proves to be a showcase for a weak, unfunny rap battle between Snoop Dogg and actor Oliver Cooper about what’s the better part of a Hot Pocket, its buttery crust or the premium meat filling.

The bizarre, non-sequitor-filled ad calls to mind the drugged-out jokes of Cartoon Network’s late night Adult Swim cartoon block, with the exception that few will find much to laugh at.

While the video features some striking images – a blinged out Larry King, a mini spacecraft and a cute video game death match – the only thing viewers are likely to remember about the clip is that they wasted four minutes of their lives watching it.
