This week’s couple: Follow me

These days, if we want to stay in touch with someone, a phone number isn’t the only option. Social media allow us to connect to people without the trouble of putting them in a phonebook. So at the end of the date between Scott, 29, and Natasha, 25, at the hot new East Village Thai food spot Somtum Der, no numbers were exchanged. Instead, they chose a more technologically modern way to see each other again.

When I arrived, I was nervous. It was my first blind date and I was excited. Then I saw Scott. He’s handsome, tall, and thin. He looks like a basketball player, though he’s actually into soccer. I can talk sports, and we both went to boarding schools, which isn’t something I often hear.

Somtum Der was a great choice for a date. We shared and enjoyed the spicy papaya salad, and the Singha Bomb is my new favorite drink.

Toward the end of dinner, we followed each other on Instagram, but he didn’t ask for my number and I decided not to mention or offer it. The date was full of conversation and laughs, but it just wasn’t magical. And he lives in Queens, which is a world away and very inconvenient.

It was cold as ice and I was freezing and nervous. Natasha is attractive, which made me even more nervous but excited.

I shared a story about a stalker I had that cracked her up. I was glad I made her laugh. I liked that she was so personable and articulate. She had a really strong personality and wasn’t shy at all.

Somtum Der was perfect for a date. It was quiet, so we could converse. The food was good and Natasha ordered an awesome drink that she allowed me to taste.

We did not exchange numbers but we are following each other on Instagram. She was awesome. Gorgeous, smart, articulate, personable and fashionable. Seeing her again would be good.
