Man killed while fixing car on highway

A Brooklyn man was catapulted off a Bronx highway and killed during an early morning collision Sunday after his car broke down and he got out to check on it, cops said.

Abubakar Saleh, 47, was standing in front of his Toyota Camry at around 6:30 a.m. on Bruckner Expressway when a Honda Insight plowed into his car, which then hit him and threw him over the guard rail and onto the street below, according to police.

Saleh landed on Bruckner Boulevard near Austin place and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger of Saleh’s car was also standing in front of the car and struck, suffering head trauma and taken to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition.

A third person, who was inside the car, suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and was transported to Jacobi Hospital with minor injuries, cops said.

Cops are still investigating whether or not there is any criminality on the part of the driver of the Honda.
