Angry worker hid medical files in ceiling tiles, doctor claims

A Staten Island woman was so steamed at being demoted by her doctor boss she hid patient files in the ceiling, according to a $1.1 million lawsuit.

Maureen Lampo, 53, was hired by Dr. Ron Israeli to help recruit patients for his prostate-cancer research, but she was never very good at her job, the doctor claims in Staten Island Supreme Court papers.

Israeli switched Lampo to a lower-paying secretarial gig rather than fire her because she’d worked for him for so long, he says.

Unhappy All Lampo had to do was help wind down the work at the financially ailing Staten Island Urological Research office. with the new gig, she instead launched a “sinister and coordinated plan to attack” Israeli’s reputation and business, he charges. She stuck oncological research above the ceiling tiles, deleted medical research and e-mails, spread rumors Israeli was a drunk, told new patients his services were expensive and claimed Israeli was about to retire, Israeli claims.

He alleges he also found Lampo, who purported to be “e-tarded” when it came to computers, had done plenty of Internet surfing at work on such sites as Match.com, Mercedes Benz and Larry the Cable Guy.

Lampo quit in July, convincing four employees to walk out with her without notice by lying to them that Israeli intended to replace them with cheaper workers, the doctor alleges.

The Richmond woman then threatened to sue Israeli if she didn’t get a hefty, seven-figure settlement, Israeli contends in court papers.

That’s when Israeli filed suit seeking $1.1 million in damages.

“He decided enough is enough,” his lawyer, Alexander Shapiro, said.

DO NOT CUT
Lampo denied to The Post surfing on sites such as Match.com.

“I’m married 32 years,” she fumed. She said she had “no idea” about the other allegations. Lampo is planning her own lawsuit against the doctor, whose legal complaint is “a blatant case of retaliation,” said her attorney, Alexander Coleman.
