Dez Bryant shrugs off JPP’s ‘blood’ lust

You just knew word of Jason Pierre-Paul’s incendiary comments about Sunday’s Giants-Cowboys battle would find its way to Texas, but if the Cowboys are insulted or motivated, they have yet to reveal their feelings.

After he made the play of the Giants’ season, leaping for an interception and then sprinting 24 yards for the game-sealing touchdown in a 27-13 victory over the Packers, Pierre-Paul looked ahead to the confrontation with the Cowboys.

“We’re going to put it on ’em, man. It’s going to be a fight, it’s going to be a dogfight, and there’s going to be a lot of blood spilled out there,’’ Pierre-Paul said.

No doubt, “blood spilled’’ gets the attention of the next opponent.

“He’s supposed to feel that way,” Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant, no stranger to emotional outbursts, said Monday, according to the Dallas Morning News.

“You’re an opponent. We’re an opponent for them. It’s great confidence.”

The Giants (4-6) have won four straight games following their 0-6 start to pull one game behind the Cowboys (5-5) as both teams look to overtake the first-place Eagles (6-5) in the NFC East. Bryant didn’t take the bait when asked how confident the Cowboys are for Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium.

“We’re just going to go out there and play our game,” Bryant said. “All we focus on is the way we prepare and get ready for games. We’re going to go out there and give it our all.”

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett didn’t have much to say about Pierre-Paul’s warning, saying he does not spend much time searching for bulletin-board material from the opponent.

The Cowboys took advantage of six Giants turnovers in winning the season-opener, 36-31, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

“We aren’t worried about proving anybody wrong,” Bryant said. “We’re just trying to go out there and play some ball, some great football and try to execute the plays we practice on each and every day in practice.”
