Today is Election Day. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in New York and from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in New Jersey.
The Post has made the following Âendorsements:
- NYC mayor: Joe Lhota. An experienced leader, he seeks to extend the city’s gains in fighting crime, reforming schools and holding down taxes.
- NJ governor: Chris Christie. A Republican in a Democratic state, he’s nonetheless managed to push through vital reforms to contain tax and spending growth.
- NYC comptroller: John Burnett. A Wall Street veteran, he understands the office’s main responsibility is to ensure good value for taxpayers and pensioners alike.
- Westchester County executive: Rob Astorino. Tapped to curb spending and outrageous local taxes, he’s done that well.
-  NY’s Proposal 1 (gambling): Vote No. More gambling will only bring more social pathologies, like crime and bankruptcy — not more revenue, as backers claim.
- NY’s Proposal 6 (judges’ retirement age): Vote Yes. The current age, 70, is out of date. Increasing it to 80 makes sense.
-  NJ’s Question 2 (minimum-wage hikes): Vote No. It doesn’t help jobless workers to raise the cost of hiring them.
