Giants Blitz: Josh Brown got his kicks

HERO

Veteran kicker Josh Brown had a career-best day, converting all five of his field-goal tries while providing the Giants all of their points. They weren’t all chip shots, either, as Brown’s line included connections from 44 and 46 yards. Brown is in a real groove lately, hitting eight consecutive field-goal tries after back-to-back misses early in the year.

UNSUNG HERO

The Giants haven’t allowed a defensive touchdown in 10 quarters, and Antrel Rolle continues to be a big reason why. The veteran safety was all over the place Sunday with an interception, a forced fumble and a sack to go along with five tackles and a pass breakup.

ZERO

Remember when Chip Kelly was going to revolutionize the NFL? The Eagles’ first-year coach looks completely outmatched now, making in-game decisions that seem more inexplicable by the week. From letting a gimpy Michael Vick play to going for it on fourth-and-10 from the Giants 32 to trying an onside kick in a one-score game with 4 minutes 11 seconds and two timeouts left, Kelly is a constant head-scratcher.

KEY STAT

The Giants played keep-away all afternoon, controlling the clock for 38 minutes, 5 seconds. That worked out to a whopping 17-minute advantage in time of possession that demoralized both the Eagles and the crowd. Big Blue had three drives that lasted more than five minutes apiece.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“We still believe.”

—Eli Manning, whose 2-6 team is still just two games out of first in the NFC East
