Derek Reader: 10 suggested titles for Jeter to publish

Derek Jeter, coming off the worst season of his career, is committed to being the regular shortstop for the Yankees next season.

He’s also made a deal to become a book publisher, in a partnership with Simon & Schuster announced Thursday.

The Jeter Publishing imprint will begin churning out titles in 2014, dabbling in sports and non-sports themes with a mix of books for adults and children.

Here is a lineup of ideas for Jeter to consider:

Lord of the Fly Balls

OK. Also, The Lord of the Rings.

2001: A Base Odyssey

An epic straight out of a Hollywood script. Filled with stars.

The Hunt for Red Sox October

Takes place in 2003 and 2004. It’s a thriller.

Infinite Jeets

It kinda goes on and on.

Runs and Lovers

Dedicated to Mariah Carey. And Jessica Alba. And Jessica Biel. And Minka Kelly …

One Flew Over the Short Porch

This one’s a home run. The guy’s an institution.

Goodnight Mo

Something for the kids. Last thing before lights out.

A-Rod Shrugged

Heh.

Old Man and the ‘C’

For the Captain. That’s fair.

Gone with the Win

He can only hope.
