Woman jumps to her death near Columbus Circle

An emotionally disturbed woman jumped to her death from the 23rd floor of her Columbus Circle high-rise Sunday.

The 25-year-old woman leapt from a window at 1 Columbus Avenue at around 8:30 a.m. and landed on a fifth-floor terrace, from which police removed her body, according to authorities.

“My wife woke me up to the sound of yelling,” said a witness, Jason Walsh. “[The jumper] was in white pajamas, staring straight up to the sky . . . There was no life in her eyes.”

Authorities said the woman, a Chinese national here on a student visa, had a history of mental illness. Her name was not immediately released.
