Jeff Bezos’ wife gives 1-star review to new Amazon book

The wife of Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos used her husband’s website on Monday to blast a book about Bezos and his online shopping empire.

MacKenzie Bezos, an award-winning novelist, gave a searing one-star review to, “The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon,” a book by Bloomberg Businesweek reporter Brad Stone.

“Everywhere I can fact check from personal knowledge, I find way too many inaccuracies, and unfortunately it casts doubt over every episode in the book,” she wrote.

MacKenzie, who married Bezos in 1993, cited an anecdote that had Bezos thinking about whether to leave his cushy job at hedge-fund firm D.E. Shaw to pursue a new career after having read prize-winning novel, “Remains of the Day.”

“Jeff didn’t read ‘Remains of the Day’ until a year after he started Amazon,” MacKenzie tells readers in her six-paragraph post.

“I’ll gladly correct any mistakes,” Stone said, when reached by The Post. Stone said he talked to more than 300 people for the book.
