Cat abandoned in subway station for two days

For two days, thousands of oblivious straphangers rushed passed a terrified and starving cat crying for help from an abandoned carrier bag in a Midtown subway station, authorities said.

The heartless owner ditched the bag by the turnstile of the Seventh Avenue station near West 53rd Street on Saturday, leaving the 2-year-old cat alone without food.

The panicked kitty’s meowing was drowned out by the sounds of the bustling station as passengers rushed passed the black bag, officials said.

The cat was finally rescued Monday, when a passenger spotted the bag at around 8 a.m. and alerted an MTA worker, who then called police.

She was turned over to Animal Care and Control, who said the cat would likely be put up for adoption.

“This is a busy subway station, so I’m surprised it was here for two days,” an ACC worker said at the scene.
