Aide to Letitia James found hanged in Bklyn. apartment

A top aide to Public Advocate-elect Letitia James was found hanged on Thursday in his Brooklyn home, officials said.

Cops found Alfred Chiodo’s body hanging in his Crown Heights apartment after co-workers became concerned as he missed several days of work.

Chiodo, 57, was urban-affairs director for James, who is moving from the City Council to the Public Advocate’s Office.

He was point person on several issues, including James’ opposition to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center arena.

James could not be reached for comment.

Her niece, Monique Robinson, 37, an administrative secretary, said her aunt was at the scene, in tears.

“I’ve never seen him unhappy,” Robinson said of Chiodo. “This is a surprise to me. I’m saddened by this. I couldn’t see him killing himself, not in a million years.”

“I’ve never seeing anyone coming to visit him,” said neighbor David Bell, 35. “It’s just him and his cat. He was very quiet and kept to himself.”
