John Mulaney is far from the only hot attraction at this year’s New York Comedy Festival, which runs at venues throughout the city from Nov. 6 to 10. Here are just a few of this year’s most highly anticipated events.
-
1. Stand Up For Heroes (Nov. 6, The Theater at MSG)
This annual benefit for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which aids “injured service members, veterans and their families,” features one of the most star-packed lineups of not just this festival, but the year in general, including Jon Stewart, Jerry Seinfeld, Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, Bruce Springsteen, and late additions Jim Gaffigan and Bill Cosby.
-
2. Behind the Scenes at "The Colbert Report" (Nov. 7, Town Hall)
Stephen Colbert appears with his writing staff for a panel discussion that will let the audience in on the show’s inner workings. Clips will be shown, and a Q&A will follow.
-
3. Larry David (Nov. 10, Town Hall)
Another great chance to see how comedy genius comes together, as Larry David talks with David Steinberg about his illustrious career.
-
4. Maria Bamford (Nov. 8, NYU Skirball Center)
On the heels of last year’s “Maria Bamford: The Special Special Special,” which was filmed in her parents’ house with them as her only audience, this year has seen Bamford release a new Web series, “Ask My Mom,” in which she played both herself and her mother, and the CD “Ask Me About My New God.”
-
5. Bill Burr (Nov. 8, Beacon Theater)
Burr is having such a killer year that shortly after his Beacon Theater gig was announced, a second show was added for the same night due to heavy demand. So, if tickets remain, you can see Burr at the Beacon at either 7:30 or 10:00.
