‘Anchorman 2’ set to ‘reclaim the glory’

First came the teasers, then a theatrical trailer, which was followed by 70 different Dodge Durango ads and now “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” has unleashed its latest trailers, providing two new glimpses at the winter’s most anticipated comedy.

While the first trailer made clear that the director Adam McKay and star Will Ferrell hadn’t forgotten that audiences love laughing at Ron Burgundy, the latest clips highlight that the sequel won’t just feature a rehash of the 2004 film’s plot.

“From deep in the hinterlands to the greatest metropolis on earth, they came to reclaim the glory they once knew,” the narrator dramatically booms at viewers half way through the first trailer.

This time around, Burgundy and company have an actual task, ditching the sunny comforts of San Diego for grimy ’70s New York, so they can help launch a 24-hours news channel.

That doesn’t mean the “Anchorman” franchise is about to start taking itself seriously, as the trailer is filled with absurd gags, cultural misunderstanding galore and plenty of Ron’s buffoonery.

“Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” is out December 20.
