Mayor: Housing shortage a ‘good sign’

Mayor Bloomberg said Friday the city’s housing shortage is actually a “good sign” because it means people want to live in the Big Apple — once again putting his foot in his mouth on his way out of office.

On his weekly WOR-AM radio show, Bloomberg called the city’s lack of ¬affordable housing a sign that more money is on its way to New York.

“Somebody said that there’s not enough housing. That’s a good sign. It doesn’t mean it isn’t a problem, but there are no vacancies,” he said.

“That will bring in investment, for people to build for all income levels, different kinds of housing. In cities, if you want to have lots of vacancies where everybody could easily find a place, you don’t have a good economy,” he said.

The statement comes ¬after Bloomy last month called Bill de Blasio’s mayoral campaign “racist,” then earlier this week professed his love for high-heeled shoes, saying if he were a lady, he would wear pumps.

Critics called his housing comment out of touch.
