Bonehead thieves fail to steal demo cell phones

Police are hunting these dopey thieves who were caught on camera trying to steal a display of mobile phones without realizing they were all demos.

Shocking footage shows the men, who made no attempt to cover their faces, attempting to make off with the dummy devices at a Carphone Warehouse.

But as the display unit full of phones and tablets was attached to a strong cord that wouldn’t give way, the bungling pair were forced to flee from the store.

Detectives are now investigating the botched broad daylight raid, which took place in Solihull, England at around 4 p.m. on November 10. Solihull is a town in England that’s about 105 miles north-west of London.

A witness, who filmed the footage but did not want to be named, said: “It all happened at around 4 p.m. on Friday.”

“Nobody else was in the shop apart from me and the workers, so it was quiet.”

“A young lad came in first, asking for a phone, and then more people came in to rob the shop.”

“They were there for about 30 seconds, if that. It was a quick thing.”

“What they didn’t realize was that they were all demo phones, so they won’t have been much use anyway.”

“And they managed to get hold of a Nokia, a $13 one. The police were called straight away by the shop.”

The dramatic footage has since been uploaded to social media where it has been viewed and shared tens of thousands of times.

One web user name Gemma Arnold wrote: “Dumb f–k they could of gone to poundland and got a plastic one that plays music.”

Charlie Wood added: “Surely the first thing u do is cover ur face?”

Mark Avery said: “Nice clear pictures and loads of fingerprints … ‘And the award for THE dumbest criminals goes to …”

Tim Leahy put: “Gonna be getting a knock on the door real soon lads.”

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called to Carphone Warehouse in Touchwood Shopping center just after 4 p.m. on Friday 10 November to reports of a theft.”

“It’s understood four men entered the store and threatened a member of staff. Two display phones were taken.”
