Jeff Sessions denies Trump is pressuring him into probing Clinton

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Tuesday that politics would play no role in his decision on whether to appoint a special counsel to probe the Clinton Foundation and an Obama-era uranium deal.

“The Department of Justice can never be used to retaliate politically against opponents and that would be wrong,” he told the House Judiciary Committee.

Democratic Rep. John Conyers read quotes from President Trump in which he slammed “Crooked Hillary” and called for the feds to investigate her and the Democratic Party.

“Everybody’s asking why the Justice Department and the FBI isn’t looking at all of the dishonesty going on with Crooked Hillary and the Dems,” Conyers quoted Trump as saying, before asking the attorney general if it’s proper for a president to call for the department to investigate his political enemies.

“I have not been improperly influenced and would not be improperly influenced,” Sessions replied.
