Rose McGowan rips James Corden over Harvey Weinstein jokes

Actress Rose McGowan on Sunday attacked late-night TV host James Corden for making light about the sex-assault and harassment allegations against disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

The British entertainer generated groans and shrieks of shocked laughter with a series of jokes about Weinstein while hosting an AIDS-research benefit in Los Angeles, according to video posted on Twitter.

“YOU MOTHERF—–G PIGLET,” McGowan tweeted Sunday morning, along with a 40-second clip of Corden’s routine.

In 1997, Weinstein paid $100,000 to McGowan, then 23, over an incident that took place during the Sundance Film Festival, according to the New York Times.

McGowan last week accused Weinstein of having raped her.

During his Friday appearance at the black-tie amFAR Gala Los Angeles, Corden said: “Here in LA, it’s so beautiful, Harvey Weinstein has already asked tonight up to his hotel, to give him a massage.”

“I don’t know whether that groan was that you liked that joke, or you don’t like that joke. If you don’t like that joke you should probably leave now,” he said with a grin.

“It has been weird this week, though, hasn’t it — watching Harvey Weinstein in hot water. Ask any of the women who watched him take a bath — it’s weird watching Harvey Weinstein in hot water.”

“Harvey Weinstein wanted to come tonight, but he’ll settle for whatever potted plant is closest,” he added.

McGowan — who last week accused Weinstein of raping her — said Corden was “a close friend of HW’s” and added: “Hearing the audience’s vile roars & laughs show EXACTLY what kind of HOLLYWOOD you really are.”

She also demanded that CBS, for which Corden hosts “The Late Late Show,” to donate money to the East Los Angeles Women’s Center “OR YOU TOO SUPPORT RAPE CULTURE,” and added the hashtag “f–kjamescorden.”

“To be clear,” Corden tweeted hours later, “sexual assault is no laughing matter. I was not trying to make light of Harvey’s inexcusable behavior, but to shame him, the abuser, not the victims. I am truly sorry for anyone offended, that was never my intention.”
