Police kill suspect in Barcelona terror attack during shootout

A suspect in the deadly Barcelona terror attack was killed in a shootout with police Thursday, according to local media.

The man tried to flee through a police checkpoint by driving a Ford Focus into cops, La Vanguardia reports.

He managed to break one of the cops’ legs, but was gunned down after exchanging fire with authorities, the paper reports.

Police sources tell the paper that the man was a suspect in the attack earlier Thursday, which saw a white van mow down pedestrians along a tourist thoroughfare, killing at least 13 and injuring 50.

Police earlier announced that they’d arrested one suspect in the attack, Driss Oukabir. It isn’t clear if this is the same person.
