Andy Roddick’s wife reveals why he threw away all his trophies

Andy Roddick found a way to break wife Brooklyn Decker’s heart. He went on a cleaning spree, and dumped most of his tennis trophies in the trash.

“It was really upsetting,” the model-turned-actress told People. “He did it one day when I was out of town.

“[He] decided that these don’t mean success to me, these don’t define me and I don’t really care to have these material things sitting around the house, so he threw them in the trash. I think he saved a few, but they are not on display.”

Roddick, 36, retired from tennis in 2012 after winning 32 titles over his 12-year career, including the 2003 US Open. He kept that trophy (it’s temporarily on display at the Tennis Hall of Fame).

“But all his other trophies Andy threw away in the garbage,” Decker said.

Roddick, wed Decker, 30, in his native Texas in April 2009. They welcomed son Hank in September 2015. Roddick now dedicates his time to the Andy Roddick Foundation, apart from the occasional tennis exhibition.
