Anyone worth their reality-TV salt would be well-versed on the Dracula Facial.
For the uninitiated, a quick intro: Made famous by reality queen Kim Kardashian, the Dracula Facial is as gruesome as its name suggests. Several vials of blood are syringed from the client’s arm, and placed in a spinning machine that wouldn’t look out of place on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. The fast spinning forces the blood to separate its molecules, with the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) being the liquid gold the surgeon is after. In layman’s terms, it looks like pee.
Here’s where it gets a bit weird (as if you weren’t already weirded out). The surgeon then injects the plasma into your face. Which causes you to bleed. A lot. Hence the facial’s name.
When used on the face, the PRP gets to work, brightening the complexion, filling in wrinkles, evening out skin tone, banishing scarring, the list goes on. But what does that have to do with achieving orgasms? Right, now that we’re all up to speed on the Dracula Facial, let us introduce you to the O-Shot.
The O-Shot
Dr. Charles Runels, the Alabama-based surgeon behind the Dracula Facial, discovered the O-Shot on Valentine’s Day 2011, when his girlfriend – who was a big fan of the facial – asked him to inject her vagina. “She really loved what the facial had done for her face, and I’d also been injecting her breasts. The stretch marks there were completely gone,” says the author of “Anytime… For as Long as You Want: Strength, Genius, Libido & Erection by Integrative Sex Transmutation.”
After pushing out three children, Dr. Runel’s girlfriend was curious as to whether injecting PRP into her vagina might make things “tighter”. And they did. According to Dr. Runels, while results of the Dracula Facial can take several weeks to reach their peak, his girlfriend reported immediate effects – she was, as Dr. Runels describes, “very hypersexual”. The doctor thought, “Well, if it works well with her, maybe it will work with my patients who’ve had some problems.” And so the O-Shot was born.
Bring on the sexual confidence!
To hear Runels describe it, the O-Shot is all about putting sexual power back in women’s hands. He claims to have saved marriages and describes one of his earliest cases: “She was weeks away from having her divorce finalised. She found sex very painful ever since delivering a very large baby. I injected her and within three weeks the tissue had rejuvenated to a point where she could comfortably have sex again. And now she’s back with her husband.”
And she’s not the only one. There are plenty of other women who attribute their healthier sex lives to Runels’ O-Shot.
“I was having trouble reaching orgasm,” says Rebecca McCarty. “My husband worked hard to get me there, but most times it just never happened. We were both frustrated so I started doing research and found the O-Shot.” Rebecca says she experienced change immediately. “Before, I knew I wasn’t going to orgasm, but now I orgasm every time, at least once.”

But, according to Runels they don’t have to worry about that. “I tell people it’s going to last 18 months because I like to under-promise and over-deliver, but there’s nothing that’s going to go away,” he says. “It’s not like Botox that’s going to wear off.”
In fact, since he started offering the shot in 2011, Runels says not one patient has needed a second dose. And he’s administered the O-Shot to a heck of a lot of women – he estimates more than 15,000 women which is being administered by a network of more than 300 doctors around the globe.
Australia’s action
One of those doctors is Herbert Hooi at Sydney’s Cosmetic MD clinic. After completing training at the Vampire Academy (for real) in New Zealand, Dr. Hooi started taking appointments from women keen to up their orgasm ante.
“A lot of requests for the O-Shot come through our listing on the official O-Shot website directory, word of mouth referrals and patients have also found our clinic through Google and social media,” says Dr. Hooi.
Interestingly, he says some clients are referred to him by their gynecologist.“There are a range of problems or general concerns amongst those women coming for an O-Shot consultation,” says Dr. Hooi. “Predominantly, it is for difficulties reaching orgasm but some have also sought help because of low libido, dryness, or stress incontinence. We also have women who have completely normal sex lives and sexual function who want to see if the O-Shot can provide an added boost.”
Despite its price tag of $1,500, Dr. Hooi maintains that the procedure is gaining popularity within his clinic, a fact he believes is largely due to the long-lasting results.
“The patient feels no, or very little, discomfort due to the numbing cream applied to the area. Feedback about results has generally been very positive, and many women have noticed an improvement in genital sensitivity and libido.”
