Forget junk in your trunk — they had a drunk on their trunk!
A couple drove 14 miles along a highway with a drunken man asleep on the back of their car — and they had no idea until a cop pulled them over, according to reports.
“The officer came up, and he said, ‘Mister, are you aware there’s a body on your trunk?’ And that did not register. He goes, ‘Mister, I’m not messing with you. There’s a body on your trunk.’ So I got out. We walked around and sure enough, there he was — still hanging on! Still unconscious, just lying there,” stunned driver Carl Webb told Fox 6.
Webb and his wife, Hazel, were returning home from a barbecue festival in Memphis on the evening of May 18 when the cop alerted them to the surprise stowaway.
They didn’t notice the proverbial third wheel because it was dark out, Webb told the station.
The hitchhiker’s feat is even more incredible because the trunk is only 14 inches wide, he noted.
“I have no explanation, other than that little lip right there saved his life,” he told the news station.
Once the cop woke him, the tipsy traveler started stumbling into traffic.
The cop grabbed him and hauled him off in his cruiser — safely inside this time — but it’s unclear if he’ll face any charges, Fox 6 reports.
