Tajikistan cops being forced to go to the theater

Police well-being is taking center stage in Tajikistan.

Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda has decreed that all cops must go to the theater at least once a month to improve their work-life balance, according to a report.

“The decision has been made that police officers will attend the theater at least once a month, on different days. This applies to all Interior Ministry employees on the territory of the country,” Ministry spokesman Umarjoni Emomali told Radio Free Europe.

Rahimzoda’s edict was inspired by a recent visit with other officials to a performance at the Abdulkasim Lahuti State Drama Theater in Dushanbe.

The idea is to help the officer’s spiritual and moral awareness and let them unwind after work, he said.

It’s not the first time the Tajik Interior Ministry has doled out lifestyle advice to cops in the landlocked Central Asian country.

It recently ordered its police force to work out in their spare time — or risk getting fired.
