Don’t break up with this Florida college student without running a spell check.
University of Central Florida student Nick Lutz received an apology letter from his ex-girlfriend, but instead of getting back together with her, he decided to bust out a red pen and grade the note.
The 20-year-old then sent back the corrected four-page letter to her, but not before sharing photos on Twitter that have now gone viral.
“When your ex writes you an apology letter so you can grade it and send it back,” tweeted Lutz, who is from DeBary, Florida.
In the margins, Lutz corrected spelling and took off points for statements that he said were unsubstantiated. For example, his ex wrote that he never cheated on him to which he wrote, “Strong statement. No supporting details to support your hypothesis.”
Needless to say, his ex did not receive a good grade. Lutz gave the letter a 61 percent grade, or a D-minus.
“Need to stop contradicting your own story and pick a side,” he wrote after the final grade. “While this gesture is appreciated, I would prefer details over statements. Revision for half credit will be accepted. Good luck.”
Lutz, whose Facebook says he is a business marketing major, told the BBC that his ex wasn’t pleased that he shared the letter on social media.
“She’s not the happiest but I didn’t expect it to go viral,” he said.
