The easy treatment that saved my sex life

Alter the births of her six children, New Yorker Coeurline Basset’s love life suffered due to more than the usual fatigue and lack of sleep.

The 37-year-old admits that, like many women her age and older, she lost tone and sensation in her vagina. Lack of natural lubrication often made intercourse painful.

“My husband and I were having sex less than twice a month and it was tearing us apart,” Bronx resident Basset tells The Post. “We would have to stop midway through, because it wasn’t working out for either of us.”

Other unwelcome side effects were stress incontinence — when she would leak small amounts of urine while laughing, sneezing or doing exercise — and yeast infections.

She considered surgery and being fitted with a vaginal sling, but instead opted for non-invasive treatments using a heated dermatology device called ThermiVA, known as the “Kardashians’ favorite laser.”

On one of the family’s reality shows, Khloé Kardashian revealed her sisters were obsessed with it. “My sisters, they’ve had kids and there’s a vagina lasering thing to tighten,” she said. “So, in my household, all they talk about is this vagina laser.”

Now, two months after having the $1,000-each treatments at Juva Skin and Laser Center in Midtown Manhattan, Basset declares that she and husband, Reuben, also 37, are having the “best sex of their lives.”

“It’s every other day now, and I feel tighter and rejuvenated,” she explains. “This is something I wanted to do for both my physical and mental health.

“I can only describe the results as ‘fantastic,’ and my orgasms are better than ever.”

Now Basset — whose kids are ages 19, 18, 17, 11, 3 and 1 (the youngest two were born by C-section) — hopes that opening up about the frequently taboo subject will help other women who suffer from the same issues.

“From talking to my girlfriends, I know that I’m not alone, and want people to know that there is hope for relieving these embarrassing symptoms,” she says.

“There was no downtime and it just felt like I was getting a hot stone massage down there with no discomfort at all,” Veteran dermatologist Dr. Bruce E. Katz, who performed Basset’s procedure, says the ThermiVA, which resembles a vaginal probe, sends radio frequency waves into the vaginal walls, causing them to tighten.

‘I know that I’m not alone, and want people to know that there is hope for relieving these embarrassing symptoms.’

“It helps with loose vaginal tissues, improves lubrication and gets rid of stress incontinence,” he says.

“A lot of my patients report that it helps with their orgasms. When you think about it, an orgasm is a reflex of a muscle, and if you take a muscle and improve its tone, the result is going to be better.”

He suggests women have the 15-minute treatment three times over the course of three months, but Basset had only two procedures.

“I was satisfied after the second round and didn’t feel like I needed more,” says Basset. “But I’ll go back if I feel like I need maintenance.

“Men are offered all sorts of solutions when they have problems in that area so it’s only fair that women have options, too.”
