Scaramucci has Brady-Ivanka theory on White House rejection

Leave it to Anthony Scaramucci to dip into sports with a flaming Tom Brady hot take five months after the fact.

The axed White House communications director, theorizing Monday about why the quarterback skipped the Patriots’ White House visit in April in honor of their Super Bowl victory, suggested a love triangle might be to blame.

Appearing as a guest host on “TMZ Live,” Scaramucci said he wouldn’t be surprised if Brady’s wife, Gisele Bündchen, asked him not to celebrate the championship with President Donald Trump and his family because Brady might have once had a fling with Trump’s daughter Ivanka.

“What I did say is somebody should ask Gisele why Tom Brady didn’t show up at the championship party,” said Scaramucci, who served in Trump’s White House for 10 days before he was ousted in July. “My guess is, which is typical … there could be a little bit of jealousy there and protection and possession of Tom Brady, and she probably didn’t want him to go. …

“Maybe there was a relationship between him and Ivanka at some point. Maybe it was someone else, I don’t know. I just think there was a possession that caused a rub.”

Brady backed out of the Patriots’ visit just hours before the ceremony April 19, citing “personal family matters” in a statement released at the time. The five-time Super Bowl champion later revealed in an Instagram post he was celebrating his parents’ 48th wedding anniversary. Brady’s mom has been battling cancer over the past year and ended chemotherapy and radiation treatments this summer.

While a striking number of Patriots chose not to visit Trump’s White House this year, Brady’s absence was particularly noteworthy because of his personal ties to the president. Trump has called Brady, in addition to Patriots coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft, close friends and gloated specifically over a call he said Brady gave him during the campaign to pledge his support.

Bündchen, however, publicly distanced herself from Trump when an Instagram user asked if the couple were endorsing Trump and she replied with an emphatic “NO!”

A source denied a past relationship existed between Brady and Ivanka Trump when asked by TMZ, although they apparently have “known each other for years.”

Scaramucci, a former Goldman Sachs executive, has remained a controversial figure in the news since his shocking firing, which came about after he ranted to New Yorker magazine about two former Trump team members, Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon, in a famously vulgar interview.
