Whom were Melania and Ivanka wearing at the inaugural ball?

And the first lady wore white.

Melania Trump took to the Inaugural Ball stage wearing a modern confection by Hervé Pierre.

Having spent over 14 years working at Carolina Herrera, the relatively under-the-radar Pierre worked solo with the newly minted first lady on her sleek, minimal look for her first dance with the president, reports WWD.

The fitted column was complete with an off-shoulder detail and a thigh-high slit. Cinched at the waist with a red belt, the only décor was a sculptural ruffle detail that slinked down the front of her gown.

She completed the look with matching white pumps, a pair of diamond earrings, and her tresses down in gentle waves with a chic side part.

Her stepdaughter, Ivanka Trump, joined the first couple on stage wearing a nude, embellished design by Herrera, according to CNN. The Venezuelan-American designer is known for dressing first ladies, including Jacqueline Kennedy and Michelle Obama.

Earlier in the day, the first lady sported a powder blue Ralph Lauren dress and coat as her husband was sworn in as president.
