Man found guilty of brutally raping 82-year-old widow

A man who brutalized an 82-year-old widow in her Brooklyn home, leaving her wheelchair-bound, was found guilty of rape and other charges Monday and faces up to 122 years in prison.

Asa Robert, 20, suffocated, raped and sodomized the woman after sneaking into her Brighton Beach home.

The 4-foot-5, 90-pound victim, who has been in a wheelchair since the incident in July 2015, told jurors that she discovered him in the corner of her bedroom rocking back and forth just after she had gotten into bed.

She offered to give him a keepsake Hawaiian shirt she’d purchased for her late husband — telling him, “You look very nice,” in a bid to get him to leave without harming her. But as he walked toward the front door after looting the place, he turned, and ordered her to get “back in the bedroom,” where he raped her, ignoring her pleas that he call 911 because she felt like she was having a heart attack.

Robert will be sentenced Jan. 10.
