Dad stole the spotlight from Joel Embiid’s debut.
An emotional fan sitting courtside at Wednesday night’s 76ers season opener told Thunder star guard Russell Westbrook exactly how he feels about him — by flipping him the bird.
Near the end of the first quarter, Westbrook scored a basket and was fouled on the way up. As he moved to the baseline, an older fan donning a red Allen Iverson jersey emphatically gave Westbrook the double middle-finger treatment, mouthing “f–k you” at the same time.
Westbrook acted calmly after the fan berated him, as Thunder teammates crowded the baseline and looked on in bemusement.
According to The Vertical’s Michael Lee, the fan was escorted from his seat shortly thereafter.
Unluckily for the fan, the moment was caught clear-as-day on camera and could be one of few highlights for what will likely be another disappointing season for the 76ers.
